How the bar-to-pascal converter works
Enter a pressure in either field. The converter multiplies bar by 100,000 to show pascals, or divides pascals by 100,000 for the reverse conversion.
The factor is exact
One bar is defined as exactly 100,000 pascals. The pascal is the SI unit of pressure and equals one newton acting over one square metre. The conversion therefore needs no temperature, altitude or material correction.
The numbers change because the units have different sizes. The physical pressure does not change.
Three useful reference values
2.5 bar equals 250,000 Pa. This is the direct result of multiplying 2.5 by 100,000.
101,325 Pa equals 1.01325 bar. This value also matches one standard atmosphere, which makes it a useful check when reading technical data.
0.001 bar equals 100 Pa. A small value in bar can still become a three-digit value in pascals because the pascal is much smaller.
Unit conversion does not fix a measurement
The factor is exact, but a pressure reading may still be rounded or uncertain. A gauge reported to two significant digits does not become more accurate when the converted field displays more digits.
Keep absolute pressure and gauge pressure separate. Both can be written in bar or pascals, but they use different zero references. Converting the unit does not change that reference.
- Use the same pressure type on both sides of a comparison.
- Copy enough digits for the accuracy of the source instrument.
- Treat the displayed spaces as digit grouping; the copied value remains numeric.
Zero and negative gauge values
Zero bar equals zero pascals. This form accepts non-negative pressure magnitudes, matching the source converter. A negative gauge-pressure difference is physically possible in some applications, but it needs a signed converter and a clearly stated reference.

No. Temperature can affect the pressure of a real system, but it does not change the relationship between bar and pascals.
Are bar absolute and bar gauge the same?
They use the same unit size but different zero references. Preserve the original pressure reference when converting.
