How the calculator works
This calculator estimates your Texas Hold’em equity: the average share of the pot your hand receives if every unknown card is dealt at random and all players reach showdown. Add two hole cards, any board cards already visible, and the total number of players.
How the estimate is built
For each of 10,000 simulated deals, the calculator removes known cards, deals random hands to the opponents, completes the board, and compares the best five-card hands. Texas Hold’em uses the best five cards available from two hole cards and five community cards. The standard hand order is described in the PokerStars rules.
Here, w is the number of outright wins, s is the sum of fractional shares from tied pots, and N is the number of simulations. A two-way tie adds one half, not a whole win.
Using the fields without inventing information
Enter only cards that are already known. Leave future board cards empty, and remember that the player count includes your own hand.
Equity is more useful than a bare win count
Pocket aces against one random hand produce about 85.8% equity in this calculator. At a six-player table the same cards fall to about 50.3%, because five random hands get a chance to overtake them.

- 9♠ 7♠ on K♠ 4♠ Q♦, heads-up: about 54.4% equity.
- 4♥ 4♣ on 4♦ K♦ 10♠ against two random hands: about 85.4% equity.
The flush-draw example is a useful warning. Nine remaining spades give roughly a 19.1% chance to hit a flush on the next card, but showdown equity also includes pairs, straights, ties, and ways the opponent can improve. “Chance to hit a draw” and “chance to receive the pot” answer different questions.
What this calculator does not know
Unknown opponent cards are treated as uniformly random. Real players fold weak hands and continue with selected ranges, so a hand-history analysis can produce a different figure. The calculator also ignores bet size, pot odds, fold equity, position, and future decisions.
Use the result to compare card situations, not as a promise about the next deal. A 70% hand still loses about three times in ten over a large sample.
Questions about poker equity
The remaining questions concern what is included in the estimate and what should be calculated separately.
Do I need to enter an opponent’s cards?
No. This calculator assigns every opponent a random valid two-card hand from the remaining deck.
Why does adding players reduce my equity?
Each extra random hand creates another way for someone to make a better five-card combination.
Is the percentage exact?
It is a stable estimate from 10,000 simulated deals, not an exhaustive enumeration of every possible deal.
How are tied pots counted?
Your equity receives the corresponding share: one half in a two-way tie, one third in a three-way tie, and so on.
Does the result include pot odds?
No. Pot odds require the pot size and the amount you must call; this calculator only evaluates cards at showdown.
