How the metres to feet converter works

The exact metre-to-foot relationship
Since one international foot is exactly 0.3048 metres, dividing metres by 0.3048 gives feet. Equivalently, multiply by about 3.280839895. This definition is also listed in the NIST length conversion table.
The converter uses the exact factor internally and shows up to six decimal places. Swapping the units does not alter the length, only the way it is expressed.

Decimal feet are not feet-and-inches notation
A result of 6.5 ft means six and a half feet, which is 6 ft 6 in. To convert the fractional part to inches, multiply it by 12. Do not read 6.5 ft as 6 ft 5 in.
Round for the job at hand. Two decimal places are often enough for an informal comparison, while construction drawings may require more precision. The conversion cannot make the original measurement more accurate.
