How the years-to-months converter works

The fixed relationship between years and months
A calendar year contains 12 named months. For a duration written only in these two units, the conversion is exact:
Multiply years by 12 to get months. Divide months by 12 to get years. A decimal result describes a fraction of a twelve-month year, not a count of calendar days.
Three useful conversions
A two-year subscription lasts 24 months. The monthly view makes renewal schedules easier to compare.
Thirty months equal 2.5 years. Divide 30 by 12: two full years remain, plus six months.
A five-year roadmap covers 60 months. This is useful when milestones are planned monthly but the overall horizon is stated in years.
What this converter does not infer
Months have different numbers of days, and leap years add a day rather than a thirteenth month. The converter therefore changes the unit of a duration; it does not find an exact end date.
For age, contracts or billing periods tied to specific dates, count completed calendar months from the actual start date. A value such as 1.5 years simply means 18 months here.

Eighteen months equal 1.5 years, or one year and six months.
Does a leap year contain more months?
No. A leap year still has 12 months; February has one extra day.
Can this converter calculate an end date?
No. It converts the units only and does not account for a starting date or the varying lengths of months.
